The album will be available for pre-order worldwide beginning this Friday, August 21st, with digital pre-orders receiving an instant download of the album’s electrifying new single, “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles).”

Recorded in Nashville during breaks in each member’s ever-busy schedules, DODGE AND BURN was heralded back in October 2013 as the band and Third Man Records announced an innovative long-term plan that would see a series of Dead Weather 7-inch singles released in the year and a half leading up the album’s release. On July 6, 2015, DODGE AND BURN was officially announced along with Third Man Records’ Vault Package #25 featuring the only limited edition version of the new album, the only physical version of new single “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles),” and more. The Dead Weather have now unveiled the complete track list for DODGE AND BURN, which features the four previously released Vault tracks remixed and remastered and eight new songs:

I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)
Buzzkill(er)
Let Me Through
Three Dollar Hat
Lose The Right

The Dead Weather first united after Alison Mosshart’s band The Kills supported Jack White and Jack Lawrence’s band The Raconteurs on a string of North American dates. The trio followed the tour with a few informal recording sessions at White’s famed Third Man studio, soon augmented by Raconteurs collaborator/Queens of the Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Dean Fertita. The result proved extraordinary – The Dead Weather’s debut album, “HOREHOUND,” arrived in July 2009 to worldwide critical acclaim and a top 10 Billboard 200 chart debut. The four musicians celebrated the release with a 23-date North American tour before reconvening at Third Man in December for three further weeks of writing and recording.

Released less than a year after their debut, “SEA OF COWARDS” made it abundantly clear The Dead Weather had become more than a side project — White, Mosshart, Lawrence, and Fertita were now a band. Ultimately named among the top 15 on Rolling Stone’s “30 Best Albums of 2010,” “SEA OF COWARDS” drew rave reviews for its aggressive songcraft and overwhelming intensity, as did a worldwide tour highlighted by sold out headline dates and showstopping appearances at such legendary festivals as Coachella, Glastonbury, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Since then, The Dead Weather collective has remained busy as ever, constantly adding new milestones to their already-illustrious résumés. Born as a one-off collaboration between friends and tourmates, The Dead Weather has since evolved into one of the most vital and provocative bands in contemporary rock ‘n’ roll and DODGE AND BURN sees The Dead Weather pushing their creative line of attack to its very limits.

BETTER NATURE is preceded by the incandescent new single, “Nightlight,” debuting Thursday August 6th. “Nightlight” also arrives accompanied by a hallucinatory music film, written and directed by legendary filmmaker Mark Pellington (Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam). The extended video – produced by Braxton Pope (Passion Pit, MGMT) and featuring Meg Steedle (Boardwalk Empire, The Mysteries of Laura) – builds upon the track’s resonant emotional and sonic core to explore the darker recesses of one young woman’s subconscious, a fever dream of guilt, desire, and identity. “Nightlight” is now available to watch at silversunpickups.com and YouTube.

As if all that weren’t enough, August 7th will see the debut broadcast of Silversun Pickups’ full-length appearance on DIRECTV’s Guitar Center Sessions. The all-new episode sees host Nic Harcourt sitting down with the band to discuss their formation, creative process, and what’s next for the band’s future. The episode is highlighted by exclusive performances from Silversun Pickups’ recent set at the world-famous Guitar Center Hollywood, including such iconic classics as “Lazy Eye,” and “Panic Switch,” and also features the first live performance of “Nightlight.” Guitar Center Sessions premieres Friday, August 7th at 9 pm ET on DIRECTV Audience Channel 239 (check local listings); exclusive clips – including a special behind-the-scenes featurette – can be viewed now at sessions.guitarcenter.com.

BETTER NATURE is available now for pre-order in a variety of formats, including a limited edition signed 2 disc 180g vinyl (black) bundle, signed handwritten lyric sheets, art proofs, exclusive T-shirt, and customized SSPU nightlight. For details, please visit silversunpickups.com

Silversun Pickups’ first new album in more than three years, BETTER NATURE sees the Silverlake, CA-based band partnering once again with producer Jacknife Lee (U2, Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Castles), with whom they so successfully collaborated on 2012’s visionary NECK OF THE WOODS. Songs like “Friendly Fires” and “Cradle (Better Nature)” were created and crafted in Lee’s Topanga studio, the band building out organically from Silversun Pickups singer/guitarist Aubert’s spare songwriting demos. The result is fluid and freewheeling, “oozy,” in Aubert’s words, with heavily cranked guitars, propulsive rhythms, and seemingly infinite textures.

GRAMMY® Award-winning mix engineer Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Royal Blood) brings maximum sonic power to the proceedings, but at the album’s beating heart is Silversun Pickups’ remarkably intuitive interplay, as ever providing panoramic musical counterpoint to Aubert’s incisive, increasingly self-exploratory lyricism. Richer, warmer, and more evocative than anything in their prior canon, BETTER NATURE is Silversun Pickups’ most human music thus far.

“This album is like its own quantum universe,” Aubert says. “It’s kind of unstable.”

Silversun Pickups will celebrate BETTER NATURE with an epic North American tour to be unveiled soon. In the meantime, the band will make a number of special showcase appearances, beginning with a headline performance at FM 94.9’s Independence Jam, set for September 12th at Oceanside, CA’s Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre. For complete details and ticket availability, please visit silversunpickups.com/tour.

BETTER NATURE marks the debut release from Silversun Pickups’ own New Machine Recordings. The independent label takes its name from the PIKUL favorite, “…All The Go Inbetweens.”

* * * * *

Silversun Pickups is among the most dynamic and creative rock bands of the contemporary era, hailed far and wide for their inimitable merging of ethereal melodies and pure sonic force. From the opening indie rock salvo of 2005’s PIKUL EP to 2012’s far-reaching NECK OF THE WOODS, each successive release has seen the Silverlake, CA-based band boldly venture into uncharted terrain, bravely pushing their imagination and ability towards new and surprising summits. Ambitious and anthemic, tracks like “Panic Switch” and “Lazy Eye” have proven modern classics, a guarantee of rare danger and invention amidst the anodyne dross of post-millennial rock. What’s more, the indefatigable quartet have made it their mission to bring their unique music to the people, touring the planet nearly non-stop to reach a devoted and ever-growing international fan following.

Silversun Pickups is: Brian Aubert (guitar, vocals) * Nikki Monninger (bass) * Joe Lester (keyboards) * Christopher Guanlao (drums)

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Growing Up (Sloane’s Song) feat. Ed Sheeran

I wish that I could say that I was in a “better place” when I found out the news. It would make for a far more polished and respectable story.
But I think back to that night: praying on the floor at 2am as Tricia went to the bathroom to take the pregnancy test I’d just purchased from Walgreens.
I was scared. Scared to start working on new music. Scared of trying again and failing. Scared of the process of staring at myself through a page and seeing someone that I wasn’t proud of.
Someone that I didn’t like. Someone that wasn’t ready to be a dad.

I’ve always had some make-believe image in my head of who I would be as a father.
I held on to clear expectations of where I wanted be in my career, my age, my level of self-care, and my maturity.
I basically assumed that I’d have it all together. But in actuality the hypothetical “dad” version of me looked completely different than the man whose heart was beating out of his chest on the carpet, praying to a god or spirit I hadn’t talked to in months.
When Tricia walked out of the bathroom, I knew. And I knew I had to change.

5 months later we were recording in a remote cabin away from the density that is Seattle.
I was finally having fun in the studio for the first time in years. Songs were getting made, finally.
I was going back to the city once a week to attend a birthing class with Tricia.
When I got back to the cabin the next day, Ryan had made a new beat that would eventually become the song you’re listening to.
Half of it is advice about growing up. The other half is trying to figure out how to grow up myself.

When you try to escape yourself, life has an interesting way of creating situations that force you to come back.
To look at who you are. This is why “Growing up” felt like the right song to re-emerge with. It’s where I’ve been the last year, through all the ups and downs.
We didn’t want to do a big campaign or anything over the top with this. We just wanted to put out good music, directly to the people that have been here since the beginning.
Thank you for your patience.
Hope you enjoy.

And if you’re wondering…

Our daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty was born 2 months ago on May 29th.
There is nothing like the joy and happiness that comes from bringing a baby into this universe.
She has filled my heart in ways that I never knew were possible.
She is the love of my life.
This song is for her.
